Which languages do you translate from?

We work from English, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch. We only translate into French. Considering the proficiency required for a flawless translation, a reliable, professional translator will always only translate into their mother tongue.


Proofreading and creative writing orders are also restricted to texts written in French.

Which areas are you specialized in?

We are specialized in editorial translation, i.e. texts aiming to tell a story to a target audience with a narrative style in the broad sense (novels and comics, tourist and commercial guides etc.).


We are also trained to popularizing scientific and economic contents.

How are prices established?

We charge by the word. Our standard pricing is €0.08/word for translation services, €0.06/word for proofreading services (creative writing pricing will be established in your quotation). This pricing might vary depending on the kind of order, whether it is urgent or not and other factors.


After receiving your order, we will always send you a quotation first. Your quotation will always include all costs, so you can rest assured not to expect any bad surprise upon completion of your order. 

We are not subject to VAT.

Actually, why not Google Translate?

A legitimate question indeed! Machine translation tools can appear seducing if you are in a rush or only have a limited budget. While machine translation might be useful in specific contexts, it lacks the rigor of a human translator in editorial translation, for a simple reason: a software does not feel anything. Would you trust machine translation tools to convey joy, anger, fear, wonder, suprise?

Does the staff of Dragon Quill Translations include any legal translators?

Our team does not include any legal translator at the moment. However, we will be happy to help you with our legal translation experience for orders not requiring legal recognition.

How can I pay?

Once you have received your order, we will ask you to to make the payment via wire transfer to the IBAN Belgian account mentioned on your invoice (international transfers also possible).

Which delivery timeframe should I expect for my order?

The delivery timeframe will depend on the requested service, the size of your order and the nature of the text (specialized or not). We will inform you of an approximate timeframe in your quotation.

In which format will I receive my order?

We mostly work with Microsoft Office 2019. We will by default deliver your order as a Word 2019 document. We can also provide you with a pdf version without any extra costs upon request.

Do you cover audiovisual translation? (subtitling, dubbing...)

We do! Our services cover a wide range of subtitling missions, do not hesitate to contact us for more information.

Is there a maximum word count you will accept for a single order?

No limit there! Our delivery timeframe will be proportional to the size of your order.
